Specimen processing

Ensuring diagnostic precision from the ward to the analyzer.

Chain of Custody

The collection and processing phase is the most critical stage for preventing diagnostic errors.

1. Collection & Labeling

Clinicians scan the patient's ID and then the specimen tube to verify a match. Labels are generated on-the-spot at the bedside.

2. Receipt in Lab

Upon arrival at the laboratory, the specimen is scanned again to update its status to "Processing". This timestamp is used to calculate Turn-Around-Time (TAT).

3. Analyzer Integration

Results flow directly from the lab hardware into Curenium, eliminating manual transcription errors.

Barcode Verification

The system will block processing if the specimen barcode does not match an active order, preventing "wrong patient, wrong lab" errors.
